Rider Manual - Nutrition Guidelines: Rest, Rest and More Rest!

Table of Contents:
  1. How Important is Nutrition for My Riding?
  2. What Should I Eat Everyday?
  3. Caloric Intake
  4. What Should I Eat on the Bike?
  5. How Much Water Should I Be Drinking?
  6. Sports Drinks and Electrolytes
  7. Alcohol
  8. Vitamins and Minerals
  9. Rest, Rest and More Rest!

During rest is when your body heals itself and actually reaps the benefits of exercise. The body produces growth hormone only during the deeper stages of sleep, so your quality of sleep is important too. Eating healthy is particularly important during your days off as you are rebuilding.

Using your nutritional knowledge will be empowering and effective. It takes some dedication and planning, but you will have your best season yet and exceed your goals for the Tour. By the time you get to the camps, the road will be paved and all you’ll need to focus on is meeting some wonderful new friends and helping the kids!
